CertAI – The makers of the Trustworthy AI seals

As part of the largest organization for application-oriented research in Europe, the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (IAIS) based in Sankt Augustin near Bonn is one of the leading scientific institutes in the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning and big data in Germany and Europe. 

Since 2014, Fraunhofer IAIS has been coordinating the Fraunhofer Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Alliance, which bundles the cross-sector expertise of more than 30 Fraunhofer Institutes in the fields of big data and artificial intelligence. Together with the University of Bonn, TU Dortmund, and Fraunhofer IML, Fraunhofer IAIS is a leading partner of the Competence Center Machine Learning Rhine-Ruhr (ML2R) - one of the nationwide nodes for cutting-edge research and transfer in machine learning. Fraunhofer IAIS is in the heart of a strong network in Trustworthy AI. Together with its partners the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), it leads CERTIFIED KI, the first project operationalizing the results of the Standardization Roadmap AI . Furthermore, its scientists have made numerous contributions to pioneering publications in the fields of Trustworthy AI published by the High-Level Expert Group on AI, the Standardization Roadmap AI and Germany's Platform for Artificial Intelligence, to name some examples. In 2021 Fraunhofer IAIS published one of the leading guidelines to operationalize AI trustworthiness.

The First Swiss Certification Body for Functional Safety and Cyber Security. Accredited by the Swiss Accreditation Service (SAS) for the certification of products and processes demonstrating the adherence to the highest standards for quality, impartiality and confidentiality. Having experts in functional safety, cyber security and artificial intelligence, and being the Swiss national chair of INB 149 / NK 42 – Artificial Intelligence, CertX aims to build the first accredited AI certification scheme.
